EBC Barcelona: banks and crypto builders share the stage

Barcelona hosts the European Blockchain Convention on October 16-17, 2025, drawing more than 6,000 participants for the event’s 11th year. The conference features over 300 speakers from traditional banks and crypto companies, plus a networking program that’s already arranged 10,000+ meetings between attendees.
The European Blockchain Convention opens in Barcelona next month with its largest lineup yet. The two-day event gathers executives from both sides of the finance divide – legacy institutions and crypto-first companies – for talks on institutional adoption, emerging tech, and product launches.
Finance meets crypto
J.P. Morgan, BNP Paribas, Banco Santander, and BBVA are sending executives to speak alongside teams from Bitpanda, Galaxy, CoinFund, OKX, and Bullish. Asset managers KKR and Bitwise Asset Management join the roster, as do blockchain projects like Algorand.
Victoria Gago, who started EBC with Daniel Salmeron, commented on the growth:
We have seen an extraordinary increase in registrations and interest from exhibitors after the overwhelmingly positive feedback from our previous edition.
Salmeron added:
The participation of so many traditional banks and financial institutions demonstrates their optimism about the future of crypto and digital assets.
Matchmaking at scale
Organizers built a system that pairs attendees for one-on-one meetings before the conference starts. Over 10,000 connections have been scheduled so far—the largest pre-arranged networking push at a European blockchain conference. The goal is to help attendees meet the right people instead of hoping for chance encounters.
Conference topics
Sessions tackle tokenization, stablecoin infrastructure, AI integration, institutional ETF demand, blockchain scaling (L1/L2), decentralized infrastructure networks, restaking, Web3 design, and corporate Bitcoin strategies.
Competitions running parallel
The Start-up Battle returns for its third year, with 50 European blockchain startups pitching live. A 48-hour hackathon runs alongside the main conference, pulling in 200+ developers, 30+ mentors, and 20 teams.
Barcelona after hours
The schedule includes a beach party at sunset, an early-morning coastal run, wine tasting, and meals at Michelin-recognized restaurants. October also brings the Sitges Film Festival, the Salón Náutico maritime exhibition, and CSIO Barcelona equestrian events.
